Veteran leg-spinner of Delhi Capitals (DC), Amit Mishra, has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The leg-spinner has reportedly suffered a finger injury, making him incapable of continuing bowling in the tournament.

As per reports, Mishra has suffered a tendon injury on his finger, which happened while attempting a catch off his delivery, during DC's last game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), in Sharjah, on Saturday. Although he completed the over and happened to be having a good spell, he could not continue past it.

"The reports have come in and it is bad news. He will be unavailable for the rest of the season and we will need to look at a replacement. The worst part is that he was looking in great rhythm and bowling really well. His experience was something that was not just helping him in the middle on these UAE wickets, but also the youngsters in the team," a DC official was quoted as saying to ANI.

Although DC had won the tie against KKR, where Mishra had claimed 114 in two overs, skipper Shreyas Iyer had expressed his grieve in losing out the veteran, who has been playing a central role in the side's bowling, especially in the spin department. So far, in three matches, he has claimed 372 at an economy of 7.20 and is the third-highest wicket-keeper for the side, this season.

"Unfortunate to lose Mishra in the middle when he was spinning the ball really well. We were confident we had two good overs left, but anything could happen, it is a funny game in T20s, and especially here in Sharjah," Iyer had said following the match.

Mishra's IPL career has been commendable, having claimed 160 wickets in 150 matches, at an economy of 7.34, with his best figures being 517. He also holds the record of most hat-tricks (3) in the tournament's history.

As of now, the onus would be upon fellow veteran Ravichandran Ashwin, and Axar Patel, in the spin department, while Nepal's Sandeep Lamichhane could also come in handy. It is unclear as to who the side would sign as Mishra's replacement player.
