India is battling hard in the four-Test series against England for the Anthony de Mello Trophy. Having lost the opening Test in Chennai, India is off to an unselected start to the second at the same venue. While the host marginally has the upper hand, it did scalp a few records on Day 1.

Host India just managed to gain the upper hand on Day 1 of the second Test for the Anthony de Mello Trophy, at the MA Chidambaram (Chepauk) Stadium in Chennai, on Saturday. It was senior Indian opener, Rohit Sharma, who had the best day out with the bat, along with vice-captain, Ajonjya Rahane, as some records were broken during the day. We take a look at the same.

Virat Kohli scripts unwantedsKohli was dismissed for an unfortunate duck, facing just five deliveries. In the process, it was the first time in consecutive Test innings at home that he was bowled out, besides being the fourth overall instance here. He has now the second most ducks across formats as a captain (12), after Sourav Ganguly (13). It is the first time he has been dismissed for a duck by a spinner in the format.

Rohit Sharma scripts some unique ones with his tonRohit played a worthy innings of 161, which was his fourth-highest knock in the format. While he scored his seventh Test century, he became the first Indian to score his first seven tons at home, going past Mohammad Azharuddin's six. Besides, he has also become the only player to score centuries against four teams across formats (Sri Lanka, Windies, South Africa and England). He is also the second after Chris Gayle to score a century against England across formats. Furthermore, he has now become the third Indian opener with tins across formats (35) after Sachin Tendulkar (45) and Virender Sehwag (36). Also, he slammed the fourth fastest half-century by an Indian opener against England, in 47 deliveries, while the record for the same lies with Sehwag (32).
