In what could be considered as a great start to the series, visitors India came up with a resounding performance, especially with the ball, as they tamed hosts Australia in the first of the three-match Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) at the Manuka Oval on Friday. The win allowed India to draw first blood and was a much-needed lead, as well as a confidence booster, having come off a 1-2 series loss in the just-concluded One-Day Internationals (ODI) against the same side. Jadeja goes past Dhoni: In what could be considered as a terrific achievement, Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja played an explosive knock, of a 23-ball 44, batting at number seven, as India posted a respectable total of 1617. Consequently, he became the highest-scoring Indian in a T20I, batting at the same position or below, going past the previous record of MS Dhoni, who had scored 38 against England in 2012.

Finch is the best against India: Australian skipper Aaron Finch managed to play a decent knock of 35. He also managed to score his 400th T20I run against India, while he also became the highest-scoring Australian against the side in the format. He went past Colin Munro, who has scored 426 to date.

India register best winning run in T20Is: The win allowed India to register their eighth consecutive win in the format. Consequently, it also happens to be their best winning-run in the format, bettering their previous record of seven on three instances (2014, 2016 and 2018).
