Steve Smith scores a fastest Test century against India: Smith brought an end to his two-Test poor run, as he scored his 27th Test century, which also happened to be his eighth against India. Meanwhile, he became the fastest to score his eighth against the side, in 25 innings, going past the previous best of 30, by Gary Sobers. It was also Smith's longest gap between two Test centuries, of 14 innings.

Cameron Green joins an unwanted list: Green was dismissed for an unfortunate duck after facing 21 deliveries. He became the joint-second Australian to face the most deliveries while being on duck, along with Alan Hurst, Steve Waugh and Pat Cummins. The record for the same lies with Ian Chappell (22).

Ravindra Jadeja scripts best Test figures in Australia: Jadeja has been quite impactful in this Test, as he claimed 462 and was the side's most successful bowler in the first innings. Meanwhile, it happened to be his best Test figures in Australia, to date, besides being the third-best, overall. His best happens to be 6138, against South Africa, in Johannesburg.

A first for India since 2010: The Indian openers contributed to a 70-run stand before the partnership was broken in 27th over. It was the first time that the Indian openers last more than 20 overs in a Test outside Asia since 2010. The last such instance was between Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir, against South Africa, in Centurion. It was also India's first 50-plus away opening stand since 2018, between KL Rahul and Murali Vijay (63), in Adelaide.

Shubman Gill becomes one of the youngest to score a Test half-century: Gill displayed his resounding batting skills, along with a great form, as he scored his maiden Test half-century, in just his second game. Furthermore, he became the fourth-youngest Indian opener to score a Test half-century outside Asia, at 21 years of age. The record for the same lies with Ravi Shastri (20 years).
