Bengaluru: A former Pakistan star player has opined that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not treat MS Dhoni well and for this reason he is “hurt”. The former Pakistan player, however, said he is glad that Dhoni will be playing IPL 2020 for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) from next month in the UAE.

On August 15, Dhoni decided to retire from international cricket. He took to Instagram to make his decision public.

Dhoni’s last match for India was in July 2019 when he played the World Cup semi-final against New Zealand in England.

The wicketkeeper-batsman is now in the UAE to play in IPL 2020. He will again captain CSK.

Many former players and fans wanted Dhoni to retire on the field, wearing the India blue jersey. However, it won’t happen now.

A Pakistan legend too is not happy that Dhoni chose to bow out of international cricket without a farewell match and he has blamed the BCCI for this.

“I always say positive things and try not to spread negativity in any way but I think I should say this. This is kind of a defeat of BCCI,” Pakistan spin legend Saqlain Mushtaq said on his YouTube channel.

“They did not treat a big player like him in the right way. The retirement shouldn’t have happened like this. This is coming straight from my heart and I believe millions of his fans feel the same way. I’m really sorry to BCCI that I’m saying this but they didn’t treat Dhoni well, I’m hurt,” Saqlain added.

Stating that he has one regret like many of Dhoni’s fans, the former offspinner said, “May God bless him in his future endeavours and whatever decisions he makes but there is one regret that I have. I think Dhoni’s every fan will have the same regret. It would’ve been great to see him retire after playing in the India kit for one last time.”

On Dhoni’s IPL stint, he said, “Glad that he will play in IPL. But his international retirement should have been different. Every cricketer has some dreams, I had that too but because of my injury that didn’t materialise but I believe every cricketer wants to exit the game on a high as he had entered it. I’m sure Dhoni must have had this dream.”

Saqlain said Dhoni was a 'great leader', 'very humble, warrior and fighter'.
