Ajinkya Rahane among select Indian cricketers to get vaccinated for COVID-19

Ajinkya Rahane is an Indian cricketer representing Team India across formats. He is the reigning vice-captain of the Indian cricket team in Tests. He has become one of the very few Indian cricketers to get a vaccine shot for COVID-19.

Indian cricketer and Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has received his first shot of the COVID-19 vaccine. The 32-year-old is among select Indian cricketers to have got vaccinated for the same.

Rahane took to his social media, where he posted a picture of him and his wife Radhika Dhopavkar getting vaccinated. He captioned it, "Got my first dose of the vaccine today. I urge everyone to register and get yourself vaccinated if you're eligible."

Rahane has become the second active Team India cricketer to get vaccinated. Earlier, on Thursday, veteran Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan had received his first shot of the same.

The Indian government has made everyone above 18 years of age eligible to vaccinate. Meanwhile, the government is also roping in other foreign companies to provide vaccination for millions of Indian citizens, besides launching Phase 3 strategy for a 'liberalised and accelerated' vaccination of the Indians.

Rahane has have been retained as the deputy for Indian skipper Virat Kohli in the upcoming ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton next month and the subsequent five Tests in England.
