Ranadeb Bose: The pacer from Bengal had a prolific season in 2006-07 after he came up with a series of impressive performance, following his snub for the Bangladesh tour. Although he was selected to represent India in the following England tour, he never made it to playing XI, as he soon faded away. In 91 First-Class matches, he has 317 wickets, besides having 126 in 82 List-A games.

Mithun Manhas: The all-rounder had all the ingredients to become an Indian international cricketer. But, the only thing wrong with him was that he rose to prominence during an era that was already dominated by some top cricketers in the national team. He has scored 9,714 FC runs in 244 innings at a decent average of 45.82, besides scoring 4,126 List-A runs in 122 innings at a prime average of 45.84. Poor soul!

Devendra Bundela: Another all-rounder who dominated during the 90s. In 261 FC innings, he scored over 10,000 runs at an average of 43.68, while his List-A stats include 2,299 runs in 77 innings at an average of 41.05. However, with a packed Indian middle-order back then, he had no chance in Team India. Another poor soul!

Rajinder Goel: Another victim of bad timing, Goel used to be a handy spinner. His domestic stats include 750 FC wickets in 157 matches at an average of just 18.58. Back during the 60s, Sunil Gavaskar had deemed him better than Bishan Singh Bedi. However, with the Indian team packed with players like Erapalli Prasanna, Bhagwat Chandrasekhar and Bedi back then, he never got the chance to play for the side. Truly heartbreaking!

Amol Muzumdar: Despite having impressive batting skills, Mazumdar's most of the tenure panned out by sitting on the sidelines. While he struck an impressive 260 on his FC debut, it was not enough to earn him an India spot, as the side was packed with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman. By the time he retired, his FC stats read 11,167 runs in 260 innings, at an astonishing average of 48.13. Need we say more?
