Hybrid vehicles are gaining popularity in India due to their excellent mileage. In 2024, hybrid and electric vehicles combined held a 9.87% market share. Currently, there are a few hybrid SUV options, including the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. However, companies like Maruti, Hyundai, Kia, and Mahindra are planning to release hybrid versions of their popular SUVs soon. Let's take a look at the key features of these upcoming hybrid SUVs.
1. Maruti Fronx
Maruti Suzuki is developing its own powerful hybrid technology. They say it will be introduced in the Fronx compact crossover by mid-2025. The updated Fronx will feature a 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder Z12E petrol engine with powerful hybrid technology. This is the same petrol engine that powers the Swift hatchback. Maruti claims the Fronx Hybrid will deliver over 30 kilometers per liter. The existing 1.2-liter K-Series petrol engine will also continue to be available.
