Yesudas’ wife Prabha and son Vijay Yesudas also accompanied him in his meeting with the PM on Thursday. Vijay, also a renowned singer, shared a photo of the meeting on his Facebook page, with the captain "Got the Honor of Meeting the one and only Honorable PrimeMinister #narendramodi ji - along with my family - Truly God Given to our country (sic)".
The veteran playback singer was in the capital to receive the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in the country. President Pranab Mukherjee conferred the honour to him in a ceremony at the Durbar Hall of Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Yesudas said he was happy to receive the Padma Vibhushan.
"I am not over-joyous. As usual I am equally happy to receive this like any other awards. It is due to the blessings of the Almighty," Yesudas told reporters.
When asked if he felt there was bias in selecting the National Awards this year, the singer said, "You can ask those who raised the issue and also to those selected."
