Veteran actress Jyothi Lakshmi passes away
Synopsis
According to a report, Jyothi was suffering from Leukemia. Despite treatment, her health deteriorated, and she lost her battle with cancer after suffering from extreme chest pain. The actress breathed her last around 12 am. She is survived by her daughter Jyothi Meena.
Jyothi was a trained classical dancer and is known for her roles in movies like Muthu, Sethu and Jaganmohini in Tamil.
The actress made her debut on the big screen with the Tamil film Periya Idathu Penn in 1963. She acted in over 300 films in Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada and a handful of Hindi movies.
Her dance numbers were highly popular in movies of the 1980s and early 90s.
Sadly, her popularity faded after her sister Jaya Malini entered the film industry, who was later mostly offered the roles that had previously gone to Jyothi.
