Sexy Durga is the first ever Indian film to clinch this honour

Sexy Durga is a scriptless movie is an erotic thriller Sanalkumar's off-beat movies and his style of cinema are what makes him different from other commercial filmmakers.

Last week, the film had won the prestigious Hivor Tiger Award at the International Film Festival of Rotterdam. 'Sexy Durga' is the first Indian film to win the honour, which carries a huge prize money of Euro 40,000 (Rs 29 lakhs).

According to a report, the Rotterdam jury said, "The movie won for its daring and resourceful approach in creating a mood of constant tension. The particular use of camera and acting give a sense of immediacy and momentum while providing an insight into multi-layered power dynamics of gender, class and authority.”

Sanalkumar, who had earlier helmed Ozhivudivasathe Kali, said, "This is for the team Sexy Durga. This is for Malayalam independent cinema."

'Sexy Durga', featuring Rajshree Deshpande and Kannan Nayar, is the third film by Sanal. Sexy Durga is a scriptless movie. The movie is being touted as a realistic erotic thriller which discusses the issue of moral policing.
