Rajinikanth attended the condolence meet organised by the Nadigar Sangam and compared late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to the "kohinoor" diamond.
While speaking at the meet, Rajini said that he was one of the reasons why she lost the elections in 1996. He recalled how he had said then that if Jayalalithaa gains power even God would not be able to save Tamil Nadu. Thalaiva remembered how his denouncement cost her the elections.
Talking about Amma at the meet, he further said, when he went to meet Jaya after the elections to invite her to his daughter's wedding he had not expected that she would come. But he was left surprised when she actually attended his daughter's wedding.
Rajini called Amma a "diamond". He also called her a woman with a "golden heart."
