However, Kollywood actor Kamal Haasan’s message condoling the death of Jayalalithaa has upset many, especially Amma's supporters.

Kamal posted a curt message on Twitter. “To all those associated/connected, I pay my condolences.”

The message, which appeared ambiguous, upset Jayalalithaa's supporters, who accused him of showing no respect to a departed soul.

@ikamalhaasan what's the point in being well learned if there is no decency. Shame I used to be a fan of yours.

According to a TV report, the actor is in the US where he is shooting for his upcoming film. Hence he was unable to pay his last respects in person to the late Amma.

A few of her Amma's supporters also alleged that the message was because Haasan and Jayalalithaa got into a dispute during the release of Vishwaroopam a few years ago.

The Tamil Nadu government had banned the movie after a few Muslim organisations accused the film of showing their community in a bad light.

Jayalalithaa's funeral was held at the Marina Beach in Chennai, near the memorial of her mentor MGR and Tamil Nadu's iconic leader, Annadurai.
