Jayalalithaa proved a woman could become mother without conceiving: Mammootty

Jayalalithaa was an archetypal mother of all Tamilians.  She is the best example that a woman can become a mother without conceiving, said Mollywood superstar Mammootty, remembering the late former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. 

Jayalalithaa considered fellow beings as her children. She empathised with women in their problems and tried a lot to empower them. As the Chief Minister, she brought in many rules to protect and empower women, the actor said. 

Mammootty also felt that her decision to quit films at the height of her career and join politics was Jayalalithaa's best and biggest decisions. The demise of the iron lady is a huge loss to politics and Tamil Nadu, particularly the women, he said. 

"As a person living in Tamil Nadu for long, I can fathom their inconsolable grief. I share their sorrow and pray for her soul," said Mammootty.
