Popular Tamil actor Vijay today met the family of Anitha, who allegedly committed suicide over National Eligibility cum Entrance Test recently.
Vijay visited the house of Anitha at Kuzhumur in Ariyalur district and reportedly offered a sum of Rs 1 lakh to the bereaved family members. Pictures of the actor sitting along with Anitha's father and brother were widely circulated on social media sites soon after the visit.
Protests had erupted in Tamil Nadu soon after 17-year-old Anitha, daughter of a daily wage earner, allegedly hanged herself at her house on September 1. She was reportedly upset after reports emerged that Tamil Nadu would not be exempted from the ambit of NEET.

It had given the directive after Centre told the court that it was not in favour of a recent ordinance passed by the state to exempt it from NEET this year.
