Great news! Tamil film 'Soorarai Pottru' joins Oscar nominations, reveals producer Rajsekar Pandian

After making a smashing impact on OTT platform, Tamil film 'Soorarai Pottru' has now made an entry into Oscars. The film producer Rajsekar Pandian confirmed on his Twitter account.  

The team of Tamil film Soorari Pottru is on cloud nine as the film has joined Oscar nominations in the general category.

Taking to Twitter, producer of the film, Rajsekar Pandian wrote," Happy Republic Day! Soorarai Pottru joins Oscars under General Category in Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Director, Best Original Score, and Other Categories! The film has been made available in the Academy Screening Room today".

The film script was adapted from the life of the cheapest Indian airways Air Deccan founder Caption GR Gopinath and venomous system in the aviation industry.

The film was directed by Sudha Kongaru Prasad and made the lead 40-year-old actor Suriya look like a young caption flying an airforce plane and then quitting the defence sector to start the country's cheapest airways which the common man could afford.

The film also stars Aparna Balamurali, Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal, Mohan Babu, and others.

The makers released the film in November on Amazon Prime and tasted success on the OTT platform as no there were no releases in theatres due to Covid-19 pandemic.
