Dark and twisted: Check out the trailer of Amitabh, Taapsee's Pink!

Synopsis

The very first line in the trailer itself is quite an eye-opener. Amitabh, who plays a lawyer, demands from Taapsee's character, "Are you a virgin, Miss Arora? Haan ya naa mein jawaab dijiye. Don't shake your head."

The movie is a thriller, and its three-minute trailer is enough to give one goosebumps.

The film is set in Delhi and its the story is about three girls - Taapsee Pannu, Andrea Tariang and Kirti Kulhari - who attacked three men who sexually assaulted them.

They are later framed for attacking the men, who are powerful and influential. The rest of the film deals with the harrowing court case as the women try to get justice even as secrets come out, and their character is viciously attacked in open court.

In real life, women always face prejudice and hardship when they try to get justice in the Indian legal system.

Police and lawyers pointedly question and cross-examine them about intimate details of every brutal crime. Such details include questions on hymens, virginity, etc.

It is nice to see our films are tackling the subject. The last great movie on this theme was the national-award winning Damini, a good many years ago.

Pink is directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and is being produced by Shoojit Sircar and Rashmi Sharma.

Pink is slated to release on 16th September 2016.
