The police were following a tip off that the accused, Rekha Vaishnav, was running the sex racket while telling people she was operating a film production house that recruited ambitious starlets for Bollywood movie roles.
According to a media report, a team led by Joint Commissioner of Police (law and order) Deven Bharti raided the flat and arrested Rekha, who declared herself as the manager of the so called production house.
"Two cops posing as customers were sent to the flat. They paid Rs. 20,000 cash for two girls for sex. The place was raided after the decoy alerted the team that was waiting outside the building. The accused was issued a notice on Saturday night and arrested Sunday morning," according to a report published in Times Of India.
"Most businessmen and prominent Bollywood personalities were in touch with Rekha, it has been found in the investigation,” the report added. Rekha's modus operandi was to contact young girls and promise them small roles in low-budget Bollywood films. She would then take them into confidence for nude photo shoots.
She then sent these objectionable pictures of the girls to customers via WhatsApp. As per the clients' choices, Rekha decided the amount to be paid, sources said.
The girls involved are mostly from Mumbai, Gujarat and Delhi.
Rekha has been booked under the Indian Penal Code section 370 (buying or disposing of any person as a slave) and under the Prevention of Immoral Trafficking Act (PITA).
