Central forces deployed in Kasargod after CPM-BJP men clash

Synopsis

Four persons injured and several houses damaged in violence that broke out between BJP and CPM activists at Thrikaripur in Kasargod district early morning on Wednesday.


 
Many vehicles were also damaged in the clash. The injured have been admitted to hospitals nearby. Tension is prevailing in sensitive areas and the central forces have been deployed to maintain peace. The police have brought the situation under control and two company of central forces are still keeping vigil.

 

There were altercations between the CPM and BJP workers on the polling day on Monday that escalated into open violence. Tense situation had prevailed in the area since the Monday.  

 

The leaders of both the parties have urged their men to abstain from violence and not to engage in activities that would mar peace. The police informed that they will take strict action against those who engaged in violence.
