Congress approaches EC against Actor Mohanlal

Congress has approached the Election Commission against actor Mohanlal for seeking votes for KB Ganesh Kumar, the Left Democratic Front Candidate (LDF) at Pathanapuram. 

By entering the election campaign, Mohanlal misused his position as the Lieutenant Colonel, Congress leader Kodikkunnil Suresh MP alleged. The actor violated both the Election Code of Conduct and the rules and procedures of the defence forces, the MP stated. 

Mohanlal, who is a Padmashree awardee, was the honorary title Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army. He is the first actor to get the prestigious title from the army. 

The actor had invited controversy by campaigning for actor Ganeshkumar, who is contesting from Pathanapuram.
