Shocking: 7,000 people named in FIR for arson in Taiwan's iPhone giant Wistron

In the latest development in the arson at Wistron iPhone manufacturing unit in Bengaluru outskirts, 7,000 people have been named for causing destruction and putting lives of employees at risk.
 


As per reports, the Kolar District police have named 7,000 unknown persons responsible for arson in Taiwan's iPhone manufacturing unit at Narayanpura 60 kilometers away from Bengaluru.

The report states that out of 7,000, about 5000 are contract workers who were demanding pending wages from the last few months.

On Saturday, thousands of employees started breaking things and caused fire and looted equipment like iPhones, other valuable items from the unit.

As per representative of Wistron management, a loss of whopping Rs 437 crores was reported.

The police said that some elements gained entry and were causing destruction and later instigated the contract workers who were on agitation demanding wages.

Soon the atmosphere turned volatile and the HR block was attacked and the arson spread to the production unit. Cars, office premises were set on fire and police had to resort to lathicharge to quell the mob.

Hundreds have been arrested and the police are examining footages from phones to identify culprits and are hopeful to reach the mastermind of this incident.
