Indian skipper Virat Kohli has received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The 32-year-old got vaccinated on Monday and has asked the Indians citizens to get the same done.
Kohli took to his Instagram handle to share a story, where he is seen getting his first vaccine shot on his left hand. He captioned the story, “Vaccinate as soon as you can please. Stay safe.”
Kohli is the latest addition among the current Indian cricketers to get vaccinated for COVID. He has joined the likes of Umesh Yadav, Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan.
Kohli and co would be travelling to England on June 2 for the ICC World Test Championship final against New Zealand in Southampton, followed by a five-Test series against England in August. Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India is aiming at getting all the players vaccinated before their departure to the United Kingdom.
“The Indian government has opened vaccination for every person above 18, so the players can take their first dose. But, the second dose is the question here and while the BCCI is looking at working closely with the England and Wales Cricket Board to ensure players can get a second dose in the UK, if that is not approved by the UK government, we will have the vaccine taken from India for the second dose. Let’s see how that works out in the coming days,” a BCCI official told ANI.
