The 14th edition of the profitable Indian Premier League is taking shape, as it is slated to be held in April-May. Meanwhile, the pre-season auction is scheduled to be held on February 18, with 292 players listed to go under the hammer.
Following the January 19 deadline, a total of 1,114 players had registered themselves for the auction. Meanwhile, the franchises shortlisted players' choice and submitted it to the IPL governing council, while the final list of the players was released on Thursday night.
As per the list, only a couple of Indians, in the form of Harbhajan Singh and Kedar Jadhav, are capped with the highest base price, of ₹2 crore. Meanwhile, a total of eight foreigners have been placed in the bracket, which includes Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, Shakib Al Hasan, Moeen Ali, Sam Billings, Liam Plunkett, Jason Roy and Mark Wood.
Other than that, 12 players have been placed in the ₹1.5 crore category, besides 11 in the ₹1 crore class. Overall, 164 Indians and 125 foreigners are to participate in the final auction. Also, three associate players are set to be a part of it.

Meanwhile, among the Indians, pacer S Sreesanth was also supposed to be a part of the auction. Sreesanth, who has had his life ban overturned and made a fine comeback to Kerala's domestic circuit, had registered his name for the same. However, he has supposedly not been shortlisted by any of the franchise in the final list of players.
Furthermore, the final list also includes the name of Sachin Tendulkar's all-rounder son, Arjun Tendulkar. Arjun played for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, featuring in a couple of matches and claiming three wickets at an economy of 9.57.
