Bengaluru: With IPL 2020 set to commence in the UAE on September 19, an old photograph of Anil Kumble and KL Rahul together has been shared on social media by former India Test fast bowler Dodda Ganesh.

Spin legend Kumble is the coach of Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Rahul is the franchise’s captain. Both hail from Karnataka and there are other star cricketers too in the Punjab squad.

Mayank Agarwal, Karun Nair, K Gowtham and J Suchith are all from Karnataka. This makes cricket fans in Karnataka supporting KXIP in this year’s IPL.

On Tuesday (September 8), Ganesh shared a picture of Kumble and Rahul together on stage. According to him, it is a 10-year-old picture.

“The captain coach combo of the @lionsdenkxip for #IPL2020. This picture is from 2010. Who would have thought then that ten years down the line these two would be teaming up to win an IPL for Punjab @klrahul11 (sic),” Ganesh wrote along with the picture on Twitter.

The picture appears to have taken during an awards ceremony hosted by Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
