Bengaluru: India limited-overs team vice-captain Rohit Sharma turned 33 today (April 30). Cricketers and fans took to social media to wish the “Hitman” a very happy birthday.

Born on April 30, 1987, Rohit made his international debut in 2007 against Ireland in an ODI. Since then he has gone on to establish as one of the best limited-overs batsmen in the world.

The Mumbai right-hander has so far played 32 Tests, 224 ODIs and 108 T20Is. In the ICC World Cup 2019, he set a record by scoring five centuries in the global event.

He is the only batsman in cricket history to have scored three double centuries in ODIs. He holds the record for the highest individual score in the 50-over internationals, a mammoth 264, which he smashed against Sri Lanka in Kolkata in 2014. Also, he is the only captain in IPL history to have won four titles. Overall, he has been part of five IPL trophy wins as he was with Deccan Chargers in 2009 when they emerged triumphant in South Africa.

India head coach Ravi Shastri took to Twitter to wish Rohit. He wrote, “Happy Birthday, Sharmaaaa! Have a great year ahead. Here's wishing you and your family health and happiness - God Bless (sic).”

Batsman Suresh Raina wrote, “Happy birthday, Rohit! Wishing you and the family health and happiness in these dire times. Stay home, stay safe, bake a cake. @ImRo45 #HappyBirthdayRohit (sic).”

With India currently under a lockdown until May 3 to contain the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19), Rohit is spending time at his Mumbai home with family. He often shares pictures and videos of what he is doing at home.
