Bengaluru: Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) offspinner Harbhajan Singh has pulled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) due to “personal reasons”. He is the second CSK cricketer after Suresh Raina to withdraw from the cash-rich Twenty20 tournament.

It was widely speculated that Harbhajan will not play this year’s IPL. He did not travel with the team to Dubai last month.

On Friday (September 4), it was confirmed that Harbhajan will not feature in this year’s IPL. According to reports, Harbhajan has cited “personal reasons” to the team management for his withdrawal. Raina too had said he was not playing IPL this year due to personal reasons. He returned from Dubai after COVID-19 positive cases hit the CSK contingent.

IPL 2020 will be played in the UAE from September 19 to November 10. The tournament was moved out of India due to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
