Naveen-ul-Haq, the Afghan pacer, is certain that the ongoing World Cup will be etched in his memory for a lifetime due to his team's remarkable achievements. Despite Afghanistan's inspiring victories, including a historic win over Pakistan, Naveen remains firm in his decision to retire from One-Day cricket at the end of the tournament to focus on his T20 career. Afghanistan's astounding triumphs, particularly their victory over England and Pakistan, have brought immense joy to their nation, which has been beset by turmoil and natural disasters. Naveen expressed the significance of the happiness generated by their cricket success amid adversity.

He dedicated the victory over Pakistan to the people of Afghanistan, recognising the challenging circumstances they face. Naveen acknowledged that there are areas where the team can improve, particularly in controlling runs during the final stages of the innings.

Naveen, who plays for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL, credited the tournament and the experience gained from playing in India as contributing factors to their confidence in the World Cup.

Afghan spinner Noor Ahmad, making his World Cup debut, delivered an impressive performance, acknowledging the influence of his experienced teammates like Mohammad Nabi, despite the competition for spots in the playing XI alongside fellow spinners Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan.
