BCCI Apex Council to meet on April 16; World T20, Olympics 2028 among agendas to be discussed

Synopsis

The Board of Control for Cricket in India is the richest cricketing board in the world. Indian cricket suffered significantly last year owing to the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, the Apex Council would meet on April 16 to discuss the new course of domestic cricket, including ICC World T20 and 2028 Olympics.

As a part of its annual meeting, the Apex Council of the Board of Control for Cricket in India will meet on April 16. The conference would be of great value with many topics on the discussion agenda, including domestic cricket, 2021 ICC World T20 and 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

Although it is unsure what discussion would be done regarding the WT20, it would most likely be the smooth conduct of the event and the feasibility, considering the rising COVID cases in India amidst the second wave. Also, the exemption of tax by the Indian government, as requested by the International Cricket Council, would be addressed.

The International Olympic Association has asked the International Cricket Council to present its staus to include the sport in the 2028 event. Meanwhile, the ICC awaits the final take from the significant cricketing bodies and explores all forms of possibilities before finally going ahead.

In a letter sent by BCCI to state associations, the meeting venue is yet to be decided. Meanwhile, the Telangana Cricket Association's representation, along with the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association's status, would also be discussed, reports ANI.

Also, the council would discuss the organisation of various Twenty20 league by the state associations, including the formation of a working group for the same. It comes after Bihar Cricket Association hosted a similar tournament last season by ignoring BCCI's warning.

Among other agendas, women's cricket would also be presented, focusing on the international Future Tour Programme. In the meantime, Differently Abled Cricket Council of India's affiliation would also be considered.
