Babar Azam, Alyssa Healy claim ICC Player of the Month award for April 2021

Babar Azam is a Pakistani cricketer who is one of the side’s best batsman across format in today’s date. Alyssa Healy is an Australian woman cricketer who plays as a wicketkeeper-batter across formats, while she is the wife of Australian seamer Mitchell Starc.

The International Cricket Council has announced the fan-polled ICC Player of the Month award for April 2021. As for the men’s category, prolific Pakistani batsman Babar Azam has been adjudged with the same.

Azam was terrific for his side, helping it trounce South Africa in the limited-overs format. He slammed an 82-ball 94 in the final One-Day International, besides scoring a blistering 59-ball 122 in the concluding Twenty20 International.

“The world bats in two ways in white-ball cricket. One way is to destroy attacks with muscle and force, and then, there is the Babar Azam way, like conducting a batting symphony with punch, panache and flair, and he deserves to win this award,” said former Pakistani Ramiz Raja after winning the award in an ICC statement.

Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy has swept the award for her consistency in the women’s category. In the just-concluded ODI series against New Zealand, she amassed 155 runs at an average of 51.66, besides helping the Aussies extend its winning streak to 24 ODIs.

“Healy deserves to win the ICC Women’s Player of the Month - April as she added the runs at the top consistently and at a good tempo to help set up Australia’s scoring in chases and target setting across all three games of their record-breaking series,” said former West Indian Ian Bishop.
