Taj named world's strongest hotel brand

Synopsis

Taj Hotels received a Brand Strength Index score of 89.3 out of 100 and a corresponding AAA brand strength rating in the latest Brand Finance report.

Here's another feather in the cap for Taj Hotels. The world's leading brand valuation consultancy, Brand Finance, has named Taj Hotels as the world's strongest hotel brand.

Taj Hotels received a Brand Strength Index score of 89.3 out of 100 and a corresponding AAA brand strength rating.

According to Brand Finance, the Taj has a brand value of US$296 million.

The Brand Finance report states, "Taj's successful implementation of its 5-year plan, which focuses on selling non-core assets, becoming less ownership-driven and reducing dependence on the luxury space had enabled the brand's re-entry into the ranking for the first time since 2016 in 38th spot."

"The Taj also quickly adopted its new RESET 2020 strategy, which provided the transformative framework to help the brand overcome the Covid-19 challenge," the report adds.

Other observations of the Brand Finance report include:

* The value of the world's top 50 most valuable hotel brands has dipped by 33% to US$22.8 billion as the sector emerges from the fallout from the Covid pandemic.

* Despite recording a 30% brand value decrease to US$7.6 billion, Hilton retains the title of the world's most valuable hotel brand.

* Hyatt is one of only two brands to record brand value growth in the top 50, up 4%. It is also the fastest-growing brand in the top 10.

* World's top 10 most valuable leisure & tourism brands shed 40% of their value.
