Renewable energy solutions provider Suzlon Group targets establishing 5 GW of additional renewable energy capacity in Andhra Pradesh by 2030, a move expected to generate approximately 4,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
According to a press release, the company plans to develop 1,325 MW of new wind projects in the Rayadurg constituency of Anantapur district in partnership with clean energy players such as Tata Power and Waaree Energy, representing an estimated investment of Rs 10,000 crore in the state's wind energy sector.
As part of this expansion, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Education, IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh will inaugurate Suzlon's new S144 wind blades at Huliker village in Kanekallu mandal on Tuesday.
The upcoming installations are slated to build upon the company's existing footprint of over 1,700 MW of installed wind energy capacity across the state. Anantapur district serves as the primary operational and manufacturing base for the company in Andhra Pradesh.
Suzlon entered the state in 2004 and has since invested around Rs 12,000 crore, establishing major infrastructure including its rotor blade manufacturing plant at Ippuru in Kuderu mandal. The Ippuru facility represents about 40 per cent of the company's total blade production capacity, with an annual output capability equivalent to 1,260 MW.
The facility actively supplies blade components for large-scale wind energy developments, including ongoing ventures with Tata Power. Existing operational sites and facilities run by the firm currently employ around 2,200 people across the state.
Alongside manufacturing and project installations, the state government and Suzlon are running a joint green skills training initiative to build local technical capacity for the renewable sector.
Under this framework, dedicated Wind Energy Learning Centres operate in Vijayawada and Uravakonda to train approximately 12,000 young professionals. Women comprise nearly 25 per cent of the total enrolled candidates, supporting wider workforce participation in the state's clean energy sector. (ANI)
