Flipkart, which Walmart owns, has announced that it would deploy over 2,000 electric cars in its delivery fleet ahead of the holiday season and the Big Billion Days. "These 2,000 electric two- and three-wheelers have been deployed throughout 90 cities in India and will assist bring smiles this Christmas season in a sustainable manner," according to a statement. According to Mahesh Pratap Singh, Flipkart's Vice President of Sustainability and Social Responsibility, the holiday season is about producing progressive value for all stakeholders. "With each order, we are pleased to keep our pledge to our consumers of bringing them a sustainable festive season." "The Flipkart teams have collaborated to guarantee that our delivery executives deliver to thousands of pincodes across 90 locations in over 2,000 electric cars," he added. Bengaluru, Delhi/NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Waidhan, Hyderabad, Vidisha, Shajapur, Jhabua, Pune, Sonai, Mysore, and Rampur are among these cities. The indigenous e-commerce business also stated that it is eliminating plastic from millions of packages.

"After successfully eliminating single-use plastic in its own supply chain in July this year, more than 75% of Flipkart's seller fulfilled shipments are now processed in sustainable packaging, representing a 20x increase over July 2020 across more than 70 facilities across India," the company said in a statement.
The sustainable packaging options were co-created with seller partners to tailor designs to particular product categories' durability, size restrictions, and cost-effectiveness. In a second statement, Flipkart noted that as the eighth edition of its flagship festive event, The Big Billion Days, approaches, it is actively working with its Flipkart Samarth craftsmen, weavers, and handicraft makers to help their lives and businesses to thrive.
Flipkart Samarth has increased 7x in sales since last year and currently impacts 9.5 lakh livelihoods by increasing market options for artisans, weavers, and handicrafts producers and assisting them in becoming comfortable with digital shopping. According to the statement, artists who participated in Flipkart's annual festive event experienced a 2.5x boost in revenue compared to the non-festive season last year.

Amazon and Flipkart have also planned sale events (beginning October 3) and are planning fresh releases and discounts to entice customers.
