Guntur: This is why parents are scared to send their children to school

Synopsis

Buses plying students were found not in good condition. Many buses were seen plying without fitness certificate About 22 such buses were seized by the officers on Monday and Tuesday

Parents in and around Guntur are scared to send their children to school as most school buses plying students were found not in good condition.

Especially with roads turning slippery in the rainy season, unfit buses have posed a danger to the lives of school children. The respective school managements should take note of this and take necessary measures to either repair or replace these buses with the new ones.

As many as 2,956 school and college buses were registered with the transport department in Guntur district out of which only 1,305 buses got fitness certificates (FC), which are 40 percent out of total buses, reported Deccan Chronicle.

Following the surprise checks by the transport department as many as 21 school and college buses were seized on Monday and Tuesday. Guntur DTC G C Rajaratnam told Deccan Chronicle that 1,305 school and college buses got fitness certificate in the district.

With many ‘unfit’ buses plying students, the RTA has launched a special drive to check plying of unfit school and college buses by the managements of educational institutions.

The officials have said that action will be taken against the buses which do not have a fitness certificate. Lives of school and college students will not be put in danger, they said.
