Oslo (Norway): The World Food Programme has won the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. On October 9, the Norwegian Nobel Committee headed by Berit Reiss-Andersen in Oslo announced the win.
The committee noted that the organization’s work addressing hunger had also laid the foundations for peace in war-torn nations.
The organisation provided assistance to almost 100 million people in 88 countries around the world last year.

The World Food Programme is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation addressing hunger and promoting food security.
The World Food Program was established in 1961 after a proposal by President Dwight Eisenhower.
