[Video] Watch why this author ate his own book

Synopsis

Prof Matthew Godwin's prediction of the British elections goes wrong. He had said, "I'm saying this out loud. I do not believe that Labour, under Jeremy Corbyn, will poll 38%. I will happily eat my new Brexit book if they do". Proving that he is a man of words, he did eat the book on live TV.

An author and political analyst-Matthew Goodwin- was seen eating his won book- Brexit: Why Britain voted to leave the European Union, on live TV to fulfill a promise he had made if the opposition Labour party would poll less than 38 per cent votes.

35-year old Goodwin who is a professor of politics at the University of Kent had said in a Tweet last month saying that he did not think  Jeremy Corbyn's Labour party would poll 38 per cent in the general election on June 8. However, much to his disappointment, the Labour party won 40.3 per cent of the vote.

He had Tweeted, "I'm saying this out loud. I do not believe that Labour, under Jeremy Corbyn, will poll 38%. I will happily eat my new Brexit book if they do." After the results were finally out, Goodwin was trolled by the labour party workers.

News media channel SkyNews , following this chaos, asked him if he would eat the pages of his own book, keeping his promise. To this, he said, "Well indeed I am. I was surprised that Jeremy Corbyn got two percentage points more than I had expected, and I did say that I would eat this book."

Before eating the book, he further added, "Two percentage points makes a big difference, I am a man of my word, so what I am going to do is just sit here and eat my book, while you guys carry on. Agreeing that it was a difficult task since it was a hard-bound book laced with chemicals, he said, " but I have got to get through the whole thing."

He then ended the video with a slightly sad thumps up to the camera.
