Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the anti-Taliban resistance that is waging an intense battle against the Taliban in the Panjshir Valley, has said that the Taliban attack on areas whose people do not trust their rule based on their record is against the Sharia law.
Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the anti-Taliban resistance that is waging an intense battle against the Taliban in the Panjshir Valley, has said that the National Resistance Front endorsed a plan put forth by the country's clerics for a negotiated settlement, and called on the Taliban to end their assault.
Media reports allegedly citing Massoud's Facebook post said the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, which comprises of former Afghan security force members and local militias, were ready to stop fighting if the Taliban ceased their attacks.
The post said that the NRF welcomes the articles of the declaration issued on September 4 by the Afghan Ulema in Kabul which called for an immediate end to the war.

Stating that the country's clerics had not remained indifferent to the prevailing situation, Massoud reportedly made some proposals, which included immediate cessation of hostilities and continuation of the negotiation process.
Massoud said that the Resistance was ready to end the war and secure peace if the Taliban end their military operations in Panjshir, Andarab, Parwan and Kapisa.
Declaring that there was no religious, human or rational reason for the Taliban attack, the NRF declared that the Taliban attack on areas whose people do not trust their rule based on their record is against the Sharia law.
Massoud said that the NRF is keen on reaching a political settlement where all groups are represented.
The Taliban is yet to respond to Massoud's proposal.
Resistance spokesman Fahim Dashti killed
Panjshir, the last bastion of the anti-Taliban resistance, has been witnessing intense battle. According to media reports, the Taliban has still not been able to penetrate Panjshir Valley.
The NRF also informed that its spokesman, Fahim Dashti, and a commander, General Abdul Wudod Zara, had been killed in the last few hours of fighting.
Ali Maisam Nazary, the head of the National Resistance Force's Foreign Department, confirmed the killing of Dashti who was a member of the Federation of Afghan Journalists
A prominent Taliban general and his 13 bodyguards have also been killed.
