Pakistan deports more than 200 Afghan nationals including women and children

Pakistan has deported more than 200 Afghan citizens, including women and children, officials say, according to pajhwok.com report.

Pakistan on Tuesday deported over 200 Afghan nationals, including women and children, who reached Quetta via Chaman after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, according to a media report on Wednesday.

The Afghan nationals fled to Quetta, capital of southwestern Balochistan province, via Chaman after the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan.

They crossed into Pakistan from different points and reached Chaman and stayed at a railway station there for a few days, but the authorities of the border town did not allow them to stay further there, the Dawn newspaper reported.

Sohailur Rehman Baloch, Quetta division commissioner, told reporters: “These Afghan families were deported because they entered Pakistan illegally,” the Pajhwok report quoted.

Muhammad Essa, one of the Afghan nationals, said, “We came to Pakistan due to the worsening situation in Kunduz.”

The Pakistan government is not allowing Afghan citizens to enter Pakistan without legal documents, including visa.

The administration in Chaman said no arrangements were made so far to welcome Afghan refugees to Pakistan. The Afghan refugees’ organisation and UNHCR are also yet to make arrangements for accommodating Afghan refugees in any area of Balochistan.

However, some Afghan families have reportedly entered Noshki district from Helmand province of Afghanistan.

Pakistan, which already has about 3 million Afghans staying in the country, has recently said that it is not in a position to accept more refugees.
