Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani has left the country for Tajikistan, media reports claimed on Sunday.
Media reports citing Afghanistan government officials said that Ghani had left from capital Kabul.
Ghani's exit came even as the Taliban gathered outside Kabul for a takeover of the national capital.
The Taliban has asked its militia to enter the capital. However, they have reportedly been told not to enter anybody's home or harass anyone.
The new Taliban statement is contradictory to its earlier stand that they would wait for a smooth "transition of power".
The new statement claims that the decision to enter Kabul was taken so that abusers/thieves do not get mixed and harass common people.
