All you have to do is place your finger on the rear camera, and with every colour change, it detects the heart rate. On the other hand, the selfie camera helps you to measure your respiratory rate, where you have to position yourself in between the camera frame and breathe.

As per media reports, Google Pixel PM mentioned, "A lot of people, especially in disadvantaged economic classes right now, don't have things like wearables, but would still really benefit from the ability to be able to track their breathing rate, heart rate, et cetera".

According to Google's research, the respiratory rate feature is accurate for one breath per minute irrespective of the health condition. The heart rate measurements were correct within 2%. They tested on different skin-toned people and got the result with the same accuracy.

The Google product manager explained that the company's machine technique is following the same procedure as a doctor does in monitoring the rise and fall of the heart rate.

This feature might make it to non-Pixel phones, but first Google wants to test properly with other devices to get the accurate readings.
