The Agnitheertham sea in Rameswaram naturally cleaned itself amid the COVID-19 lockdown

Rameswaram: The water quality of Agnitheertham sea in Rameswaram has improved as it naturally cleaned itself while humans continue to be confined to homes amid COVID-19 lockdown. Less human activity has greatly contributed to the recent improvement in the quality of sea water. Rameswaram is a pilgrimage location which attracts thousands of devotees on a daily basis. The nationwide lockdown has been extended till May 17 with eased restrictions to arrest the spread of deadly coronavirus.
