Bengaluru: The BBMP which always ignores its places is now turning a blind eye to the problems of vendors and farmers who are dependent on one of the oldest markets in Bengaluru South, Madiwala. The one kilometer stretch to the market has no connectivity and no roads.

Every time it rained in the last five months, the water stagnated and resulted in vegetables, fruits and flowers getting wet and rotting as no customers can come due to lack of good roads. Despite repeated appeals to the BBMP and local corporator, nothing has happened.

The corporator Manjunath Reddy said the work got delayed as there are two issues, one an outsider has got demolition order to raze structures in Madiwala market and another is that about Rs 240 crore was cut in the budget and hence even the road work got delayed.
