As the lockdown process has made the Karnataka government more worried about reaching out to construction labourers, NGOs and trade unions have come forward to chip in with essentials and food delivery to help the poor and needy.
The Trade Union Co-ordination Committee, Karnataka, has requested its volunteers in Bengaluru Central Division to coordinate with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the police to ensure about 5,000 labourers are given food twice a day.
Hundreds of volunteers take food in an auto, tempo and scooter and distribute food. The cooked food that comes from city-based organisations and hotels are distributed between 11:30 am to 1 pm and between 6 to 7 pm.
