Coronavirus warriors have been the centre of attraction for their efforts throughout this tough situation. However, their exploitation is either underreported or has gone unnoticed.
A case of overworking a woman lab technician and making her enter a grave has been reported from Karnataka home minister Basavaraj Bommai's district Haveri.
Shoba, the lab technician, was asked to collect a throat swab from the corpse of a 70-year-old who was suspected to have contracted COVID-19, as few cases were reported earlier from the district.
Lab technicians say those who are on contract are working day and night and this was expected but what was not expected from the department is to make a lady enter a grave to collect samples for testing. Their pertinent question is, why did the department not inform them immediately after the death of the person?
