As there is a strict rule not to sell alcohol during lockdown, the culprits with the intention to make quick money resorted to smuggled sale of liquor for double the price.
The irony is that a 108 ambulance that is used to ferry patients to save lives was used to transport liquor.
The incident happened at Challakere in Chitradurga district of Karnataka today and the police caught the accused red-handed while trying to load the liquor.
According to Chitradurga SP G Radhika, the seized liquor is worth Rs 69,000. The accused persons used to sell Rs 90 worth liquor packet for Rs 500 in villages nearby. Four persons have been booked in this connection.
