  • Arekatika Porata Samithi believes that the dialogues in the film show the community in bad light.
  • After filing a complaint with the Banjara Hills police station, they have asked the censor board to remove the dialogues

Kattappa and controversies seem to not be able to stay away from each other for a long time. After the much debated controversy around Kattappa aka Sathyaraj's remark on Kannadigas 9 years ago came to a closure, director Rajamouli now prepares himself for yet another controversy pertaining to religion and cast.

Released on April 28, the much awaited movie has broken all box office records in a span of just 3 days, which indicates its popularity among the people all over India. However, it drew the ire of the Arekatika Porata Samithi who believed that the dialogues should have been well thought of. They lodged a complaint at the Banjara Hills police station, stating that they are offended by a scene where Kattappa says “Katika Cheekati.” As per them, Katika is a caste slur.

Speaking to the NewsMinute, they said, "We Katika people indulge in the trade of butchery, to sell meat of goats, sheep and hens, to provide healthy food to the society, as part of our livelihood. We are not harsh, inhuman and anti-social people as the movies try to portray us."

They also objected to certain anti-social elements depicted in the film that allegedly cast a wrong impact on the children in their community. They have even requested the censor board to remove the dialogue from the movie.

The police, however, has not lodged a case on the basis of the complaint.
