Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A launched with 16MP front camera: Specs, price, availability

After a string of rumours, Xiaomi has finally pulled the wraps off the successor to the Note 4, and here we have the Redmi Note 5A. The device will be made available as Standard Edition and High Edition. In this, you will find three variants, depending upon the RAM and onboard storage capacities.

The 2GB RAM + 16GB storage priced at CNY 699 which translates to approx Rs 6719 is the base model. Then, there are two premium models - 3GB RAM + 32GB storage priced at CNY 899 (roughly Rs 8641) and 4GB RAM + 64GB onboard storage at CNY 1199 (roughly Rs 11500).

The base model comes with a 5.5-inch HD display with 720 x 1080 pixels of resolution, and is powered by Snapdragon 425 coupled with 2GB of RAM. The onboard storage of 16GB can be expanded up to 128GB. It gets a 13MP rear snapper and 5MP selfie camera. The 3080mAh battery promises 35 hours of call time and 11 days of standby time.

Talking about the premium variants, you get more RAM and storage. Both variants - 3GB RAM + 32Gb storage and 4GB RAM + 64Gb storage are powered by Snapdragon 435 octa-core processor and also get fingerprint scanner, which is missing in the base model.

The front camera is also bumped to 16MP with real-time beauty filters for video calls. Rest of the specs remain the same. The devices will run MIUI9 and the connectivity options include 4G, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and GLONASS. India is an important market for Xiaomi, and we can expect the devices to be launched here tto. However, there is no official word yet, but going by wide speculation, the company may launch the devices in India during Diwali.
