Xiaomi Mi 6 launched: Dual camera, Snapdragon 835, fingerprint scanner and more

Synopsis

Xiaomi launches Mi 6 with a 5.15-inch display. The splash resistant device comes with support for under-glass front fingerprint sensor.

For starters, the device is powered by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 835. It should be noted that Samsung's S8 priced at a whopping Rs 57,000 comes powered by the same processor.

The 835 is coupled with 6GB RAM and storage options are 64GB and 128GB. Dipped in black, white and blue colours, the Mi 6 will also get special ceramic with 18k gold camera rim and silver variants.

The device sports a 5.15-inch display with reduced glare, precise 0.15-nit adjustments. It is covered by a curved glass body on all four sides, and features a stainless steel frame. On the camera front, it gets a dual setup with optical zoom -  12MP wide angle with 4-axis OIS stabilisation + 12MP telephoto.

The splash resistant device comes with support for USB Type-C and under-glass front fingerprint sensor. And, the 3350mAh battery promises full day of charge. It will be available in China starting 28 April, and considering India is an important market, expect the launch here in the near future.

Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun said: “Mi 6 is the culmination of our seven years of research and development in the smartphone industry, and represents the pinnacle of our journey thus far. Besides being a performance beast that is powered by Snapdragon 835, Mi 6 also demonstrates how we are constantly refining our design and pushing the boundaries of materials technology with the use of four-sided 3D curved glass and ceramic. I’m really excited to join our Mi fans today to introduce Mi 6, which once again defies price expectations, and I’m looking forward to unveiling even more amazing products in the year to come.”
