The announcement for the addition of new colour variant for the Mi 5 comes after a long wait of two months. The official report suggests that the Mi 5 Gold Edition will be available in standard and high versions with 3D glass on the back, instead of ceramic.

GizmoChina reports that the Mi Pro version is still limited to white and black while White version includes a glass back.

The standard model of the Mi 5 is powered by Snapdragon 820 processor running at 1.8GHz and paired with Adreno 530 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). Also, it features 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage along with front-facing fingerprint sensor.

On the other hand, the high-end version features an overclocked (2.15GHz) Snapdragon 820 chipset with Adreno 510 GPU, 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.

The standard variant is priced at RMB 1,999 (around ₹20,490 or $308) while the higher-end option costs RMB 2,299. The White model of Mi 5 Pro with 3D Glass back will retail at RMB 2,599.

The Mi 5's next flash sale is scheduled for May 4 at 2pm. Prospective buyers can visit the official website Mi.com to register for the special offer.
