WhatsApp rolls out new video calling feature

Synopsis

Facebook-owned chat application WhatsApp introduces video calling feature In order to use it both parties must have the updated version of the application installed

Probably the biggest news in the technology world today will be Facebook-owned chat application WhatsApp rolling out its Video Calling feature. It now joins various other entities like Google Hangouts, Skype, Facetime, etc.. in offering this feature to its users.

There is nothing too complicated about it. All you need to do is update your version of the app from Google Play store and then get down to the all familiar way of using it.  WhatsApp users can hit the call button in the top right corner of your chat window, which will bring up box asking if you want to voice or video call the friend or family member you’re chatting with. Simply select the “video call” option from this screen and you are through.

The video feature also allows you to multi-task between windows. Like in Skype you can switch between the forward-facing and rear camera, mute the call or press the red button to hang up and this feature allows you to even scroll through other apps in your phone while chatting.

Like its chats, the videos will also have end to end encryption which means your conversation will remain between you and your friend.
