The Uber is launching a new real-time ID check process that will ask the drivers to share selfie right before going online.  The selfie feature will prevent fraud and also protect the drivers’ accounts from getting compromised.

 

Uber is launching a new safety feature that will require the cab driver to take selfie. This is a real-time ID check process that will ask the drivers to share selfie right before going online. 

 

On March 13, the taxi aggregator stated that this new security check will help to ensure that the cab driver who is using their app is the same one the company has in its records. This feature uses Microsoft Cognitive Services is an effective method to protect the riders as well as the drivers, the Times of India quoted an Uber official as saying. 

 

The selfie feature will prevent fraud and also protect the drivers’ accounts from getting compromised. This is an additional layer of safety and accountability to ensure that the right driver is driving the car. 

 

Bengaluru, New Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata are the first cities where this feature has been launched and subsequently it will be launched in other cities.
